Black Crane
Alexander Yamaguchi relocated to Los Angeles from Tokyo when he was 18 years old. After becoming a graphic designer and launching his eponymous men’s line in 2000, he co-founded Black Crane in 2009 with Japanese designer Momo Suzuki. Focusing on an inclusive silhouette, the brand creates timeless designs with natural fibers that are renewable, biodegradable, and long-lasting. The brand’s concept sees clothing as an extension of your body – their true personality only emerges once you put them on. As such, each of Black Crane’s pieces are comfortable, relaxing and practical: think organic cotton lounge sets, oversized dresses and jumpsuits, and laid-back trousers. The collections are all made in local factories in Los Angeles and waste is kept to a strict minimum by using the same material for multiple seasons with a cut-to-order production system. Japanese minimalism meets American loungewear.
