Edwin

Edwin

Established in Tokyo in 1947, Edwin is the mainstay of Japanese denim. The brand’s founder, Tsunemi Yonehachi, was amongst the first merchants to bring vintage American jeans to Japan in the postwar era, setting off a national obsession with denim. When jeans began being produced domestically, Tsunemi lamented their poor quality and took matters into his own hands. By the 1970s, his brand Edwin had established itself as a pioneer in denim manufacturing, known for their experimentations with wash techniques to reduce shrinkage, and their innovative methods for getting the perfect faded colour and “lived-in” look. Fifty years on and Edwin continues to set the gold standard in Japanese denim production, while also offering a variety of other menswear pieces made with the same care and attention to detail for which the brand has become synonymous.
