Franca Atelier
A serendipitous meeting and a shared passion for handicraft was all that it took for France Bocognani and Caroline Bartoli to become ‘Franca’. With a twenty-year age difference, it was an unlikely friendship, and yet, beauty exists in unlikely places. Both originally hailing from Corsica, today the duo call Marseille home, and it’s here that they can be found slab-building, pinching and coiling clay at the Franca atelier. Known for their curved and irregular artwork-cum-tableware, it’s no surprise that Picasso, Joan Miró, and Brancusi are counted among their many sources of inspiration. Applying a modern vision to ancestral techniques, France and Caroline continuously push the boundaries of their craft, blurring the lines between art and function. Whether you choose to use the plates, vases and candleholders, or simply admire their beauty is entirely up to you.
