French-Nepalese brand Muskhane was founded in 2003 by Thierry and Valérie Billot. After completing a humanitarian project in Kathmandu, the two French natives were keen to embark on a new adventure that would promote traditional Nepalese craftmanship. From rugs to wall hangings, cushions, lampshades, storage and decorations, Muskhane offers a wide variety of home décor objects for adults and children, each one entirely hand made from renewable raw materials in workshops in the Kathmandu valley. The majority of the brand’s objects are made from felt – a natural, hypoallergenic material – which is prepared by hand using an age-old tradition of intertwining wool fibres. The result is a collection of super soft objects, in a palette of colours inspired by Nepal’s rich culture. Since the beginning, Muskhane has maintained a close relationship with their Nepalese suppliers, ensuring that their artisans enjoy good working conditions and a fair wage.
