In 2014, while on maternity leave, Maja Korovljević began carving masks and figurines out of wood with her older daughter. She called her friend Sanja Đurić and two days later the idea for Pinch Toys was born. At the time, it was still just a dream, but in the years that followed the two Croatian women have created somewhat of a toy sensation with their Scandinavian-inspired pieces. All their wooden toys are handcrafted out of alder, linden and oak that is sourced from sustainable Croatian forests and they use paints that are certifiably free from toxic chemicals, water-based and eco-friendly. Pinch Toys’ designs focus on the well-being and cognitive and sensory development of children so they can make indelible memories before passing them on to future generations.
