Founded in 1949, the String shelving system conceived by Swedish designer Nisse Strinning has never gone out of style, even 60 years later! The idea came from a competition organised in 1949 by a group of Swedish designers: create a bookshelf system that was cheap, adjustable, easy to put together, and above all, practical. Nisse Strinning won the competition and developed the famous String shelves. Today, the brand’s pieces are still entirely manufactured in Sweden, and their traditional design hasn’t changed, however they’ve expanded their line to include a variety of other products signed by renowned architects and industrial designers.
