How to choose the right mattress
Invest in durability. If possible, choose a mattress with removable covers so you can wash it. Don't forget the mattress protector. For an evolving bed, opt for a beautiful mattress, which you'll keep until your child is 7 years old.
1. What density?
As well as the thickness of the mattress, you need to pay particular attention to its density. For a baby, choose a firm mattress, but not too firm. For classic materials (foam, latex), we recommend a density of between 20 and 22 kg/m³, or 55 kg/m³ for tencel. Below this, the mattress will be too soft, above this, it will be too firm.
2. Which material?
Sheep's wool is 100% natural, thermoregulating and insulating. It provides a soft, plush welcome.
Coconut Fiber is an ultra-breathable material. It is thermoregulating, insulating and hypoallergenic, with firm support.
Cotton is often blended with other materials such as wool or coconut fiber.
Tencel is made from wood pulp. It regulates temperature and humidity. Density of a tencel mattress: from 55 kg/m³.
The OEKO-TEX® label guarantees the absence of toxic products for the body and the environment. No chemical treatments have been applied to the materials.
3. The different types of mattresses
Pocket-spring mattresses are good for support and retain less heat. Memory foam mattresses offer support and comfort for your baby's body. Latex foam mattresses are generally considered more resistant. For a more ecological option, consider a mattress stuffed with natural materials, such as coconut fibers or sheep's wool.
