3D by Benjamin Guedj @oursroux

In the home, we’re seeing la vie en rose: the colourful and idyllic aesthetic of 3D interiors that are all over Instagram is showing up in real life. Pomegranates, raspberries, cherries, pink peppercorns and red berries are being splashed across walls in a display that is showy and reinvigorating.

In the design world, pink is taking on a more futuristic approach. The coloured neon lights by Sabine Marcelis or HAY are giving a fantasy dimension to the home, while furniture is adopting unusual materials such as resin, aluminium, or tinted glass to reflect the light in an exciting colour spectrum.

This futuristic aesthetic has been borrowed from the Omakase restaurant in Shanghai where visitors are surrounded in a surreal pink light. The place was designed to recreate the magical atmosphere of Sakura petals, the pink cherry blossom, that fall in spring. It’s a unique concept that we’ll soon see adopted by the latest retail and hotel experiences.

Fashion designers aren’t shying away from this cheery colour palette either, emphatically adopting the bright pink to liven up women’s wardrobes. From Ayni to Chanel and Mirae Paris, spring-summer 2021 collections have been enveloped in a pink patina, a movement largely initiated by Jacquemus, whose fuchsia looks featured in their first shows of the season.

This colourful array is also being seen in men's suits. At Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton, Jacquemus and MSGM, an intense fuchsia is shaking up men’s wardrobes and dressing them in a genderless bright pink.

Activewear is also making a foray into pink, giving a necessary boost of energy and passion to our workouts. Sports attire is being transformed into outfits that are equal parts beauty and comfort, offering optimum flexibility in the sweetest colours.

Fuchsia is also blooming poolside and along the Mediterranean coast where saturated swimsuits by Cult Gaia, Twice studio and the fresh collection by Canopea x Smallable are offering up a dose of enthusiasm, setting the tone for the summer holidays.

The world of beauty is also being splashed with a panoply of pink: nails, eyes and hair are being coloured in a frisky fuchsia that stands out on social media. It’s the trademark of the Suzuki twins, whose hair colour is known for turning heads on the catwalk. Flashy pink is no longer just a lip colour, it’s the latest ace to play for a beauty look that’s more extravagant than ever.
